Moving to a new eternal abode - A continuation of filial piety and love

"Ancestor Relocation", is the ritual of exhuming remains for the purposes of reinternment in a different location. In Yin House Feng Shui, is regarded as an act of honoring the deceased with an auspicious funeral in a more favorable environment and also blessed with excellent Feng Shui.

Ancestor Relocation ceremonies are carried out as a mark of respect for our ancestors.

Technically, it relocates our ancestors to a Feng Shui optimized environment for added prosperity for posterity. It is believed that the descendants will also enjoy blessing and fortune bestow upon by their Ancestors.

Why is it done?

The following reasons explain the need to perform the Ancestor Relocation ceremony:

Fulfilling a wish

Ancestor who migrated to seek their fortunes and eventually passed away in distant lands may have expressed their wish to have their remains returned to their homeland to be laid to rest.

地契

Lease

Some niches or land lease expiring soon.

Natural disasters

Cemetery with improper planning and poor management are prone to drainage problems. These issues may result in landslides, causing retaining walls to collapse and tombs to shift. in such situations, an Ancestor Relocation ceremony is required.

A display of filial piety

Ancestor graves that are dilapidated due to aging may require an Ancestor Relocation ceremony in order to preserve and honour the memory of their loved ones in a more presentable setting.

Logistic convenience

Given the fact that our ancestors are occasionally not laid to rest at the same location, this usually creates logistic issues during Qing Ming. By relocating their ancestor to a single location, it makes it easier for descendants to do the praying.

Unfavourable Feng Shui

Graves are located in sites with unfavourable Feng Shui would adversely affect the descendants. To rectify this, an Ancestor Relocation ceremony has to be performed.

Are you affected by Grave Exhumation to make way for Tengah Air Base expansion?

Singapore biggest and only active public cemetery – Choa Chu Kang Cemetery will be downsize by a third, from 318ha to 200ha.

Some 80,500 Chinese and Muslim graves will be exhumed progressively to expand Tengah Air Base, which in turn is to accommodate the relocation of Payer Lebar Air Base from 2030 onwards.

Family members who are affected by the grave exhumation can choose to relocate the remains of their loved one at government columbarium or at our Singapore Nirvana Memorial Garden, located nearby at Old Choa Chu Kang Road.

Due to space constraints, the Government imposed in 1998 a burial period of 15 years for all graves in Choa Chu Kang, after which the remains would be exhumed and relocate.
